Favourite Spot in the Church
All pupils in our school took part in an initiative designed in the Church of Ireland Centre, DCU which involved finding our favourite spot in the church. On Thursday, 18th May, we made a visit to neighbouring St. Laurence's Church and along with Rev Ruth, observed, drew and experienced the church's interior, learning about various parts of the church and their names and significance. The older pupils did a church trail there too. Pupils in two groups, junior and senior, identified their favourite spots in the church. For the juniors, it was the Sanctuary just under the beautiful stained glass windows. They liked how the light came in and illuminated the area. The senior pupils chose the pulpit because of its elevated situation in the church. It was a great opportunity to experience with curiosity and in greater detail, the church, which we attend for school services a few times each year.
